    JB Vacuum Pump

I bought a brand new JB vaccum pump 5CFM, and filled oil that ships with the pump.

Started vaccum opened partially balast valve but it goes closed as pump vibrates.
Then I totally opened the ballast valve and it run for 10 minutes but the pump shut down.

The pump was very hot at this time.

I waited about 1 hour for the pump to get cold and it worked again.

Is it normal or the pump is supposed to have a failure ?

It was setup to 230V. I change it to 120V and now it works fine. I think most JB pumps ship as 230V to some countries. But they don't have a key. One has to remove a small cover near the ON-OFF button and change the position of wires.

One needs to read the manual before use.
