Hot to touch Compressor
I have a four yr. old LG refrigerator that smells a bit hot and the compressor is hot to touch? Any explanations?

when you say comp is hot is it running?
is it off on internal overload or clixon?your only as good as your last job

If there is a Fan motor to cool the Compressor, it may be stuck

If the temperature inside the thing is correct
what you might be smelling is years of bacteria growing in the drain
pan on top of the comp.
If the temperature inside is high then the thing is on its way out and
somthing needs looking at by a professional.
So if the temp is ok try clean the drain tube and the little try at the
back that vapourises the waste drain water.
If the temp is wrong weigh up if it is worth the cost of repairing compared
to replacing.

compressor becoming weak or lack of gas can be repaired at reasonable price

Don't do domestics often but I thought they always seem to have very high superheat so they don't sweat back. As a result of the compressor running hotter the moulded condensate tray was bolted on the top to evaparate the condensate.
