Google Chrome Browser
Anyone tried the new Chrome browser yet. Seems to load RE pages much quicker and has lots of nice tweaks.
It even spell checks the post! Neat
But does not like smiles?
Chef
Actually it seems to interpret old school smiles for the new ones.Last edited by Chef; 05-09-2008 at 10:51 AM.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
I've heard about it in other forums.
Apperently is fast, but has a bit of googleware attached and has problems scrolling for a lot of people.
I'm sticking with opera until chrome is out of beta.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
It's very fast. It has a PORN^H^H^H^H "Incognito" mode which doesn't record your history [eyebrows]
What it doesn't have is any kind of add-in system, which means I can't (ironically) get access to my Google bookmarks from within the browser, use Firebug, ColorZilla, any of my translation tools, BugMeNot etc etc.
Also it doesn't work properly with my JavaScript library of choice - jQuery. This means most of my (and many other peoples') commercial sites don't work properly. I'm sure this'll be fixed but for now this is definitely "interesting (if limited) beta".

Re: Google Chrome Browser
There is no such a thing as "incognito" browsing!
You always leave traces when surfing on internet no matter what you do to hide/erase that. If some data came to you from some site, there is always recorded path to data flow. Only real question is, how long that data about path are stored on servers.
Internet is real "Orwell 1984".

Re: Google Chrome Browser
Apparently if you type in ":%" (without the quotes) Google doesn't like it.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
Just tried it this morning.
A few bugs, but it is Beta.
When you save a file it does not return you to the place you last saved the file. You have to drill down to wherever you want to put it.
Also I could not copy and paste into Google (at least from Notepad).
I do like the fact that each page runs as a separate process, so if one crashes the others do not.
A little time and it may work well.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
I read on another forum that the EULA is very open, and they either can or will be recording your moves over the internet to improve there commercials and advertising. Privacy hasnt really worried me in the past, but i like firefox and have been using it for years without a problem at all, so I will not be changing.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
Chrome is a good browser... for me its next to firefox...
I am actually just waiting for my favorite plugin to create their version of chrome before I fully switch.
firefox is still doing very well though.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
I made a point of not using Chrome. It is owned by Google which is not just a search engine company but a data warehousing outfit that is involved in many ventures. Chances are every movement can be recorded and it can possibly be sold off to companies who may target me with products. Not saying defintely but who knows what the future may hold.
Just like I hate getting junk mail through the post, i think i will give them a wide berth.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
I love Chrome - fast, clean layout and very standards compliant in terms of displaying pages.
I do agree with nike123....the "Incognito" mode may keep your wife/girlfriend/kids from seeing where you surf. But make no mistake that info is still being tracked.
There are online services though that so allow you to not leave tracks traced back to you....you basically show up as THEIR IP address. Helps.
But in the end....if having someone find out about something you are doing will result in unacceptable consequences for you...well...don't do it.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
I'm using chrome right now. It's pretty quick though I like it's clean and maximised screen look.
If you are worried about tracking then see this http://collusion.toolness.org/
