    copeland compressor inop

    I recently replaced a 5 ton compressor 1ph 208/230v
put a new capacitor and a new contactor. Pulled a vacuum put gas and nothing happen. the condenser fan starts but the compressor won't start at all. Checked all the wires but they all seem good. evap fan works fine, contactor pulls in but nothing. Any suggestions. also I put a hard start kit. I'm starting to think the compressor is bad but maybe I'm missing something. It took me a lot of work to get the compressor on the roof of a building. any suggestions?

Better double check all your connections first especially the control relays.,is voltage present in the comp. contactor?
Did you already measure the resistances of the motor windings, specifically across the S and R terminals. If you get no readings, your windings are open and comp. is defective.

What current does it pull when it should be starting?

Is it the right voltage? I have been given the wrong compressors before from the supply shop, 3ph when it should be single!

    What are the winding resistances?

    S-C
    C-R
