York centrifugal power rotation
York types:
Why is it that York doesn't publish their required phase rotation anywhere in their literature? trane is forthcoming with this as it is usually A-B-C, and on centrifugal it is easy to see on the York, but it would not be well in the case of a screw reverse rotation

Re: York centrifugal power rotation
I would assume because it is safer to insist upon a rotation check of the motor.
Before connection of the unit!
Or is that to much to ask?
I cannot say for you guys but most of us technicians on this side of the pond.
Don't posses such luxuries as phase rotation meters.
Most the screws that I work on have a directional arrow embossed upon them.
Or clear instructions upon how to determine the rotation direction.

Re: York centrifugal power rotation
Thanks for Your Kind reply.
My god!
I must of been in a grumpy mood last night?
Anyway
Was the fact that you have a phase rotation checker your reason for wanting the rotation details.
It is not an "Official Practise" but in the past where
The equipment to be tested has allowed it.
I have Bounced the Main Contactor or start stop buttons.
Although usually the only time this is normally an issue.
Is following a motor replacement / semi hermetic rebuild.
It's quite scary when you wire up a scroll the wrong way.
But as the manufacturers state "You will know by the sound the comp makes".
Life is steady with the normal Pre Christmas Panics for some Food Processing Plants / Dairies.
The extra overtime is welcome as well.
Time will tell, basically it depends what part of our Industry you work for.
Some are hurting more than others.
Cheers Grizzly.

Re: York centrifugal power rotation
The reason is because you are meant to check the phase rotation . I have seen phases changed over in main switchboards . Sometimes A B C or R W B arn't always as they seem.
Cheers
