De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
I'm trying to find some old information on these compressors dated to +/- 1875. Does anyone have any old brochures, pictures, history, etc that you can share?
This is for a restoration project located in Belgium.
Thanks.
If all else fails, ask for help.

Re: De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
Thanks Brian!
That was exactly the type of material I was looking for. I did not realize these old books had been digitized and made available.
This is better than presents under the Christmas tree.
If anyone else happens to find anything like this, I woudl certainly appreciate them posting a link to the material.
Now if only I can get some real work done this afternoon. If all else fails, ask for help.

Re: De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
Well, I'm on a day off today so here's another one, 1920s this time.
An old Texaco lubrication paper with a couple of pictures, pages 7&9 - 8.84MB pdf.

Re: De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
Thanks for your time Brian. This has been a big help.
I have seen several other of those old lubrication bulletins. I doubt we would be able to find literature like this today.
I tend to think there has been more forgotten on so many subjects, that it is soon waiting to be re-discovered again.
My question is why?If all else fails, ask for help.

Re: De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
Becuase every one is in such a rush to get a newer version rather then building on the origional one to streamline it and make it better, instead redesign it for the sake of pushing paper!

Re: De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
There are some references and pictures in a book I have of an installation at Nelsons Wharf in London. I'll scan them and e mail to you.
It's high res, so is 8 mb too big for one hit?

Re: De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
.
My ISP is having problems sending at the moments so I'll send them directly my e mail is back on line.
It's a couple of chapters from a collection of articles called the 'World Below Zero' that appeared as a serial in one of the UK trade comics about 15 years ago and was then published as a book.

Iceman, I do not know where you are located but a track on De La Vergne brought up a URL that indicates a large volume of their records and engineering drawings, etc. are in the Smithsonian: After Baldwin- Southwark purchased De La Vergne

Re: De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
Thanks for those links. The two Google books are several I did not have. I just have not had the time to spend researching "fun stuff" for a while. Now, I have to find the time to read them....

Re: De LaVergne Amonnia Compressors
Went at this a different way as well....
This a free join to a digital library on some really fascinating historical documents. You will really have fun with the first pages of the 1890 catalog from De La Vergne themselves with sections of their equipment....
It is a 49-meg Download though....
