    Danfoss NL11F

    Hi guys,

I've a Danfoss NL11F here. Soon as you power it up it's making a very nasty grinding sound and gets hot then trips out, i'd pretty much say it's the thermal cutoff that tripping it out.

I removed the unit from the system, recovered the gas then de-brazed it.

Drained all the oil out over night and again this morning.

When you shake the compresser it's not the normal sound, like something has broken off inside.

    Any ideas?

    Pete

All small compressors make that noise,

The compressor and its motor are supported by 3 springs,

When one of them brakes, thats the sound it makes.

But it has nothing to do with the fact that it trips on its thermal cut off,

It must have reached its end, time to get a new one.

Aye it has come off the springs for sure i belive. I duno how but i think thats whats stopping it from spinging up.

I got a few NL11F's here in use so fully awear to how they run.

I can get a new one from Austria for 105 euros plus shipping, much cheaper than UK

Probably when the compressor broke a spring it consequently brock the dischage pipe which is directly piped from the pump head to the case.

I replaced that same compresser on an amana fridge and it was pulling 3.1amp after being on for one day. I am sure its an internal problom.
