Ask for finned-tube coil design software
Hello All,
I have not been here for a long time. Currently, I am looking for a finned-tube evaporator and condenser performance calculation program which have the function to predict air side pressure drop for different types of fin (flat, corrugated, raised lance, and louver fin). Evap-Cond is a nice program to do coil calculation. But it does not tell the air side pressure drop. Heatcraft has a nice program. But it is only provided to its customers. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Many Thanks
Vincent

Re: Ask for finned-tube coil design software
Hello LC,
Nice to hear from you. How are you doing?
I use Evap-Cond in my work. It is a nice program, allowing you to run the circuit in different ways and adjusting air flow distribution. But when I design evaporator for flooded system, sometime, the program does not converge. The main disadvantage of this program is it does not tell the air side pressure drop.
Anyway, it is a good tool for coil design.
Regards,
Vincent

Vincent
I found this on the web..
http://webgruppen.wm.net/abb/
they have a 'trail' download and also an on screen calculation method.
I'm not sure if it is any help but it will give air pressure drop, obviously for their own coils, but...Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK

Re: Ask for finned-tube coil design software
Hi Vincent,
Google brought me to your thread.
I am also looking for a simulation program to design finned-tube coil. Have you manage to find a good one?
With information on air pressure drop?
If possible, it would be great if the application can work using secondary coolant such as glycols...
Thanks in Advance.
