    Smile Custom Refrigeration Build

Hi Guys, Im new to the forum and this is my 1st post so any help would be greatly appreciated.....Im about to refurbish my pizza shop and in need of a refrigerated serve over counter, after looking high and low for months i was unable to find anything suitable and hence decided that the best option would be to build one myself! for the complete integrated look as i am a bit anal when it comes to detail!......does anyone know of a custom refrig builder or is this soemething I can do myself in bulk and have the technicalities dealt with by a qualified engineer? i.e I build the carcase and run the power to where it is needed ready for someone else to finish and commision? .....any help will be greatly appreciated

I think you would be better speaking to proffesional shop fitters rather than trying to do it yourself.
There are lots of companies out there that do this kind of work.
Look in he yellows for shop fitters.
There are companies that specialise in his type (fish shop fitters are a good start point) they work with stainless and custom build counters.

    Cheers taz.

    Re: Custom Refrigeration Build

i have researched long and hard on this front and not had much joy, with companies citing various issues as the problem and price tags attached to them. I have contacted companies in america and spain! I am a carpenter and joiner who has worked with sheet metal a lot so the building side of it is not an issue. I need someone who can be involved in the actual refrigeration engineering. Most people push me towards pre-built serve over counters but i can't stand them! ...I want the fully integrated look, and the design i want is going to be a bit difficult for other people to make. Any other ideas?

    Hey Get,

That's a bit rude, even by my low standards.....

PB, unfortunately so do I agree with the gist of Get's message.
To design a display fridge from scratch (and get it to operate satisfactory) is a massive task, there are just so many factors to consider.

If you insist on doing the "hands on" bits yourself, at least get an experienced engineer to help with the design of the fridge stuff (before you start to build anything).........

From what I understand you are talking about the servover counter and all the fittings in the shop?

You are not talking about building the fridges themselves, right?

You can't of looked very hard because there are hundreds of profesional shop fitters that specialise in stainless steel.

I would not personaly attempt it myself.

I am not familiar with the lingo "serve over" counters. But I think it would be simple enough to come up with a refrigeration design once you sketch out the details and provide a cross section drawing of how you see the air going.

Peter has done some wonderful work with original designs, such as the mobile seafood and more truck. I have used off the shelf blower coils from Heatcraft here in the states to provide some pretty good custom refrigerators. I don't see it as difficult as some other members seem to.

Dan, i agree! its a fridge for gods sake not rocket science! I did degree in architecture and structural engineering and can model in 3d cad, im sure this is a good basis to provide an outline design with the final assembly by an experienced fridge engineer.

    Re: Custom Refrigeration Build

Better get your text books back out and start looking up heat calculations, after doing that approach some coil manufacturers with the calculations you have done including air flow calcs.
Next approach some wholesaler to supply the fridge kit, then an engineer and see how long the thing lasts or even works properly.

Next convince the EHO that it works
Next look at getting rid of the waste water.

People spend their lives designing fridge kit and you think you can do it with the help of us guys on the forum, and cheap.

Get the right people in and pay the money.
