HT and LT R22 systems to Isceon MO29 (R422D)
Hi Guys, I have been asked by a client to quote on some supermarket applications to carry out a R22 gas change. Various refrigerant suppliers have all recommended MO29 as the best choice for both temp ranges.
I am concerned about the possibility of gas leaks from seals etc......
Has anybody had any practical experiance of doing gas changes to MO29 ? and if so how was it and did you have any leak problems after ?

Re: HT and LT R22 systems to Isceon MO29 (R422D)
Steve,
R422D is made up from R125, R134a and R600a.
It has a temperature glide of 4.5 degrees C and a boiling point at atmospheric pressure of -45 degrees C.
It is an A1 refrigerant, which basically means it is non-toxic and non-flammable.
It has an ODP of 0 and a GWP of 2230 - ODP is better than R22 but GWP is worse than R22.
Its standard application temperature range is + 16 to - 18 degrees C but with limitations can go down to -30 degrees C.
ALL info from Bitzer Refrigerant Report No14.

Bitzer also seem to favour R422A - thats just from a quick read of their refrigerant report.
It is available on Bitzer's web site if you want it.

Re: HT and LT R22 systems to Isceon MO29 (R422D)
MO29 has been used on quite a large number of R22 changes for Asda (So im told) on both temp ranges with no problems.
The only potential problems I could see would be any shrinkage in valve gaskets / seals which may lead to some small scale leaks.
I am quite comfortable with the refrigerant as a replacement for R22, its just any practical problems that people may have experianced I am interested in !Steve
