    Dear all,

If we want to use sea water for water defrosting, what material should be used for the coil unit? Or even we shouldnt do this method?

By lofic all material should be Cupro Nickel. We had done few projects for navy, when the condenser was fabricated using cupro nickel shell as well as tubes. What ever other materail is used, shall get eaten out in no time.

But making fins of Cupro Nickel is going to be a very torugh task

Cool Re: Sea Water for water defrost

    Hi There
Just seen your request, i worked on marine projects for a consulting company.
You need to use a plate heat exchanger made from marine stainles steel, one side is sea water the other a closed circuit potable water treated, you will need two pumps a sea water pump with a higher flow than the second pump which is the fresh water pump. you will get quotes from any of the plate heat exchanger manufactures and they need your heat load and fresh water flow td.
You can now make your coils and fresh water header tank from normal materiels, a much cheaper option.
    Best Regards Tony l.
