Sulphur reaction on copper pipes
Hi everyone there, can anyone help me out.
There is airconditioner package in the sulphur area which get frequent leaks on the copper pipes specially the brazed joints. The unit gets covered with sulphur dust within a week no matter how frequent you do the maintainence.
How to avoid the leaks or atleast reduce the frequency of the leaks. Is there anything to apply on the brazed joints?

Re: Sulphur reaction on copper pipes
In australia you used to be able to get this stuff called "Kirby Kote" it was like a laquer type stuff in a spray can and you could spray it on the pipework (and coil) for additional protection - the manufacturer (Kirby) used it on all of their coils for a while, you could get the can to respray after repairs and no, it didn't appear to affect heat transfer - maybe if you painted it on! . No doubt somebody else sells something like it too.
...and she said "give it to me you big fridgie"

The sulphur is reacting with the phospherous in the weld material, all welds should be done with easiflo/ or silver based rods. We have similar probs with equipment in volcanic areas.
