High Humidity Chamber

We had constructed a test chamber for CAR testing. It was earlier thought that it shall be for temp. variation right from -40 to + 40 deg c. But now the client is also increasing the humidity level upto 95%.

Now this chamber is not gas leak proof as it is seen now. The reason is when the temp goes up the silicone sealent applied from inside gets separated & the steam is leaking out. THis is happeing mostly at the wall / ceiling joints.

The inside surface is SS 304 & hence it is very difficult to apply a special resin / tape which are available for such applications. Any suggestion to stop this. We can consider Al Bitu tape, but will that stick on SS 304?

Could you use a 'rubber' seal secured to the base frame with a ss strip screwed over it?

Welding is not possible as the panel skin thickness is hardly 0.5mm. But the idea of gasket being screwed down could be workable. We shall do this & post the result on this forum

I believe that special kind of pop rivets are better, more tight...with screw you have always a leak...

...maybe you can use a special aluminum self adhesive tape (50mm wide) what we use to seal cold room ceiling panel joints from top. It is very light and adhesive is very strong...I do not know the manufacturer but we use that in India.

we also use angle SS profiles riveted to ceiling and to the wall with sealant under both ends for inside corners, of course when panels are SS type...

Are you talking about Al Bitu Tapes. That is a al tape with a bitumen backing. That is what is being used for ceiling joints. The problem with that is when we apply that on SS 304 surface, the sticking is not so good. & with temp variation that easily comes off.

But that works very well with precoated sheets.

No, this is kind of very strong self adhesive plastic tape (very thin but strong) highly polished (Chrome finished like and that glue/adhesive is very strong...)
