    Re: Denman?

Why do you join a refrigeration forum and pose a question about a possible problem with an electrical wholesaler?

I take my comment about curiosity back. Again , as Brian points out, one sentence speculators present an alarm signal and we should heed caution.

We want to represent RE as a fair and balanced forum with a substantive and objective reporting of events.

RE cannot be a platform for gossip, defamation and heresay. At the end of the day, companies pay taxes, have reputations and are responsible for peoples livelihoods.

If a member wishes to point to material of any nature , favourable or not, try attempt to point to authorities that can verify its authenticity.

Fair comment however its also the companies themselves that start these rumours for their own benefit.

    wow. everyone seems very paranoid.
is there good reason i'm unaware of? i'm new here.

anyway, heard maybe denman has been sold?
thought this was the sort of place to discuss/find out stuff such as developments/changes in our industry.
[or is there another website more suitable?]

    Not paranoid, just cautious.

You are a new member with no history and pose a very brief question.

You could be someone who has a grudge to bear against the company or maybe not.

We cannot see who you are and you did not provide any explanation for raising your question.

A better way to start when you join somewhere is always to introduce yourself.

If you walked up to a complete stranger on the street and asked him did he have any gossip/bad news on someone he's never heard of would you expect a sensible answer??

    Re: Denman?

    hi Brian,
i did introduce myself in the new-users thread.
i am new to this site & forums so sorry if i offended someone.
i really don't understand your 'stranger in the street' comment, anyone viewing this forum/thread is surely not a 'complete stranger' who has 'never heard' of such companies, if viewing this forum/thread [as you have] obviously have some form of interest!?
i simply asked if anyone else had heard of some news [maybe 'whispers' was the wrong word i apologise] but i do not like the way you have assumed it may be 'gossip/BAD news.

i can understand a person being cautious, but i wouldn't be posting because i hold a grudge against anyone.
i am infact unpleasently suprised how almost unfriendly people seem to be on here. and i can't apologise for being a new member, i just am.

This must be the Fridgeman.com that regularly hosted facile and spurious comments about individuals within the UK industry. It regularly crossed the line of good sense and decency, occasionally dabbling in quasi racist comments….. so, good riddance to it.

Inviting comments about companies or individuals, expecting the worst will not be tolerated, so if you expect these posts to be moderated, you are right.

If you want to follow the commercial development of this company, there are plenty of ways to do so.

It is worth remembering that the operators of all forum sites and their contributors are governed by the laws of libel in this country.

You can't post any old junk or gossip if it's untrue.

If you didn,t like it then you should,nt have visited it,eveyone sees something different,I enjoyed the light humour and bantor and also gained technical help. But I suppose if someone didn,t have a sense of humour then I can see why they would be glad it closed down.

OK, you introduced yourself. - You forgot to mention the fact that you produced your 'introduction' the day AFTER your first post above.

Heard of - No my first thought was for an electrical company that I know of, when the correct company name was highlighted by Mark it jogged my memory. Sorry if I am not as up to date as you wish.

Gossip/bad news - If it was good news you would have been telling us all about it.

I'm not asking you to apologise for anything.

Quite why anyone on this site should provide you with money is beyond me but still I will advise you of one thing - your final sentence is uncalled for, unneccessary and places you on notice, by me, that your behaviour needs to improve if you wish to remain here.

    Re: Denman?

I think you have all missed the point on this thread.

I think someone asked if anyone had any information on 'Denman', I posted the information and NO one came back.

What is the point of these sites if you fall back to the dark days of 'Fridgeman.com' and the crap that goe's along with it.

Come on guys this industry is on it's knees as it is, lets not go back 10 years.

I can understand your comments, but i think that your moderator Argus was out of order with his comments to Bernard, so it has to work both ways.

My comments were made as light harted sense of humor.

...Didn't mean to start a war guys!
I must say however that this is a discussion forum and one persons comments have just as much right to be expressed as anothers [no mater how many thousands of posts you've made!]

Anyway, wanted to discuss possible industry development with my peers, so thanks for those who have been obliging/polite.
    [fatboy-taz/unloadedinher/bernard]

PS. also think fridgeman is sorely missed. [in my opinion]
a common ground outside of company politics was encouraging, constructive & refreshing.
unfair how it ended, always the minority etc etc.

thanks Fatboy Taz [&chillin-out] seem to have gone off on a tangent.
i didn't know denman was a MBO [i assume you mean Managment Buy Out].
i consider denmans to be quite a big outfit, lot of guys [& guys with history] there anyway.
guess that won't be such a big deal as if an external buyer?

    Exclamation Re: Denman?

No problem Youssef, just trying to put it on record.

I am only intrested it telling the truth, yes it was a Management Buy Out, all of the Denman Group is under one mans control.

Have spoken to that man and it can only get better from now on. (Not that it was bad before)

Can I also add that there is a new person sitting on top of the FM section as well.

    Regards

    Hello Chaps..
I have just got onto this site of so called "engineers" and have had a read... Interesting to say the least.. As for Denmans.. Another major player going down the tube.. I do wonder why? With all you nancys with too much time on your hands typing away bitching. The problem I think, it is about time companies realised we are all bent over touching our toes and taking it large from the big 4 retailors and under cutting one another to get 'THE' contract thus causing the situation at hand.. So once again I am copping it this week-end on stand-bye covering denmans sainsburys work because the company I work for has agreed to do so at no extra cost.. Loading all these problems to the grass roots of the industry.. me and some of you.. And for what? Less sleep and no extra money.. BINGO. Wake up Chaps.. Then again.. Soon the Polish will be here

I dont know why you are covering any work for sainsburys its not as if any of us engineers have gone on strike.
In fact everyone is working this weekend(all bar some of us who have other comittments)to try and keep everything running as it should.

I cant believe all the fuss thats being made over this,i got paid today and i have still got a job on monday.
Anyone would think the world has ended.

And by the way IF you are covering any sainsburys work this weekend, dont bugger it up and leave it for the rest of us to fix next week.
If it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.

I've heard the Linde whispers also. I dont think there is a massive amount of truth in it. Mainly as it would seem Linde are currently winding up the Newbury office of RCS and moving them to Oxford so I would be very suprised if they went ahead with purchasing Denmans. Especially as they seem to be cutting costs left right and centre as well as getting rid of ome of their own Linde engineers.

Hi all, i am new!as a recent escapee of denmans I'd like to clear a few things up, denman install have gone, service and maintenance are still ok, for now.
As for the buyout they were allegedly in talks last week with a 'big company', no names as of yet, but there were whispers/rumours of WR further up the management line. Its amazing what the human ear can pick up in a 'busy!' office!!!

    Re: Denman?

It`s looking like a Linde buyout afterall.

Don`t know what they are buying mind you as many good engineers have gone now.

Should be fully known next week.At least our jobs are safe.

You did`nt hear it from me.
If it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
