Chiller Probs
Hi i recently called to a chiller plant which had faulty alinco tev . changed tev ,drier core ,p tested and vacced properly recharged with manufactures charge of r407c. Plant running and cooling water but have got high suction pressure (70psig) at normal load (water cooling to 10c and cycling properly)
Is the valve plates on the coplenad recip comprosser at fault? i suspect discharge leaking into crankcase? help!! the comp is of 4 head type with a unload valve on 2nd head .

Re: Chiller Probs
Well,
Check how fast/if it will pump down and stay down, that's the easiest test of the valves, saying that, a copeland semi is quite easy to strip and inspect.
Have you checked the flowrate of the water? if this is too high then it will rise the LP.
