I'm tempted to say, who cares nowadays.

Everybody seems to sell everything to everybody else regardless of capabilities.

I suppose that we just have to wait for 'Joe Public' to have a serious injury or death with a piece of 410 kit and then the authorities will get off their corporate backsides and bring in some rules and regs a bit like CORGI. [/end rant]

But realistically, what can happen? The electrical risk is minimal.
Ok the gas can escape, what injury to the individual is this going to cause on a 8kw split?
Wow! 40bar of 410a, whats it going to do? evaporate?

when did a pipe/evaporater/condensor/receiver/accumulator last burst on you?

Corgi, NICEIC doesn't improve standards, they just collect ca$$$$$$$h.

    Cheers

I'm not talking about things breaking because as you say it doesn't often happen.

In response to your comment above - yes it does evaporate - damned quickly!

One frozen eyeball or a lost finger all due to frostbite due to careless or inquisitive handling of pipework etc.

I've been frozen by R22 and didn't enjoy it at all

So.....Judging by the lack of responces. The best we (the a/c...or...fridge engineers) can offer is a very, very, very slight chance of frostbite.
How are we to expect our industry to be legislated? Global warming? don't insult me or yourselves. Greenhouse gases? LOL! look to the "developing nations"

    Corgi....Burn or poison innocent people
    NICEIC... Pure money making scam
    US......??????????

Sorry chaps, but our trade is only one up from painters and decorators, and certainly no more dangerous.

    cheers
