Excessive Frosting on the Evaporator
Hi,
This is my first post to Refrigeration Engineers. I like to take help from you guys.
In one of our site we have excessive frosting on the evaporator inside the Reach in Cooler. We have checked for door leaks, Defrosting Cycle, Operation of Defros heaters and found O.K.
Could any body tell me what are the other probable reasons for this excessive frosting.

Hi, vadivelan. Try to check the volume of the rifregerant in your system. It may be to much. Also try to check the controls of your TEV.

Re: Excessive Frosting on the Evaporator
Yes first check the quantity of refrigerant, and the TEV settings. Could you please let us know as to what are the basic products being stored and wether the same are in wet state. What is the door service. Is this Reach in Cooler locally fabricated or the same has been imported.
Excessive frosting could be due to many reasons. If you could provide the above informations and the suction and discharge pressures maybe it would help to find the reason for frosting.

I have always seen that the drain line is the issue & it needs to be checked for U loop.

Re: Excessive Frosting on the Evaporator
If the product is wet ( my company freezes fish ) , make sure the coils are clear at the start and set your defrost about 1/2 way through the feezing cycle .
If that do not solve it , I would look at the TEV , checking the adjustment , if its stuck or not and the capillary line if its automatic to see if its broke
