Re: Soldering Copper Pipes- Simple Demo

Hi Smpsmp45, this tutorial shows a plumbing technique but does not apply to refrigeration and air con as the joints are always brazed at more than twice the temperature with special rods, normally a phosphore and silver mix.
Also reaming out the pipe in an upright position as the nice lady showed would allow pieces of copper to fall into the system...not good!
Heating just the over lap in an upright position would cause the pipe to fall out of the fitting, and the list goes on...
Thanks though she had a great voice

Hope no one followed that tutorial and braized a 410a system using solder

The demo was good. In the earlier years soldering used to be done for the copper pipes in refrigeration systems. Even today by seeing the demo, one can have an idea as how to handle the brazing. There is always something to learn and it is how you take it.

    Thank you smpsmp45.
