Installing pipes
Hi, I have 20 years in shopfitting and have decided to change trades into the exciting world of air con!!
after a 3 week training course, I have just completed my first install, but would like some advice on installing pipes into a suspended ceiling, basicaly I rolled out my 1/4 and 3/8 pipes and put on the insulation then laid the interconecting cable next to the 2 pipes and then cable tied them together, then I loosely rolled it back up again and fed them up into the ceiling, this looked crap and was hard work, I presume I did this all wrong!!!?? so any advice would be greatly received, many thanks

Re: Installing pipes
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Yes, three weeks training does not give anywhere near enough knowledge.
Each roll should be laid out to straighten the pipe, insulation can then be fed over the pipe either as a job lot or as the pipe is fed into the route.
The pipe is then secured to the pipework supports to ensure a smooth run.
Cable ties are oftern used but do not pull them tight, if you compress the insulation then you increase the chance of condensation forming and wet patches on the ceiling.
I assume that all of the insulation joints were vapour sealed as well.Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK

Re: Installing pipes
What were you installing that had a 1/4" and 3/8" line set?
That is a very small capacity system, or something is seriously wrong here.If all else fails, ask for help.

Re: Installing pipes
Hi guys
1/2 + 3/8 pipe for daikin small 3.5 kw split a/c system, thanks for your advice, I didnt squeeze the cable ties up hard and I sealed all joins on the insulation hoses, but your right 3 weeks is not enough time to learn the a/c trade, which is why its great to have this forum for all my questions.
many thanks
