Re: Wininit.exe
What operating system are you using 95,98 ME?
Have you tried 'system restore'?
It's pointing towards a virus.
Have you installed DirectX recently?

Hi
Thanks for the links
Originally it had millenium then I bought xp,the system was not used for over a year.I fired it up for the kids the other night it work great for two days then my son tried to run lord of the ring game this is when the problems started. On start up instead of showing xp its gone back to millenium before the message appears. Will try system restore if I can remember how.
Thanks Bernard

Re: Wininit.exe
Ah ha, start the comp in 'safe mode' and change the boot sequence from ME to XP.
(Start--Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and look to 'boot.ini)
Set XP to default or delete the ME one.

Re: Wininit.exe
Hi Chillin thanks for your help, unfortunately the millenium page is only there for a few seconds and never gets to the desktop. It goes to a black screen with the following displayed.
The following file is missing or corrupted: C:\Windows\IFSHLP.SYS WININIT.EXE: Missing/unable to load.
Press any key to continue........
When I press any key the following appears
The following file is missing or corrupted:C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32.VXD
Type the name of the windows loader (e.g., C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEMS\VMM32.VXD)
C>_
I,m lost

Re: Wininit.exe
Start it in 'Safe' mode then.
Do you know how to do this?
What is the make of your PC?
How old is it? (roughly)
