    Basics of TXV's

Here is a good link to an article about the basic operation of a TXV (thermostatic expansion valve).

    Happy reading.

    Thanks that's some nice finds

I know this is probably going backwards in time but have you ever found anything like these on piston type metering devices (fixed orifice).....I know they aren't complicated but it's a nice find if anything like this exist. I have searched Google pretty extensively also since I saw this thread posted.....with no luck.

Not much. I have looked for some of this myself. Orifices look simple, but can be just as complicated if you are trying to determine the capacity by flow rate.

Try looking for "metering orifices" on Google.

Here is one link that shows the complexity.

I must have googled everything but those exact words. I looked at over 10 pages on each one to the info dwindled down to nothing. Thanks for taking the time to find that. I don't know what I was doing wrong.

The search engines are sort of funny. You only get results based on your search words. However, the serach words the spiders pick up are those they think are important based on some ranking scheme of the links or websites they visit.

To get good results you have to try different search phrases. I have run into the same thing and it forces you to be very specific, or prepared to waste a lot of time.
