New to refrigeration, new to RE

    Hello all,

Just wanted to step in and say HI!

As my title shows, I'm new both to RE and to the refrigeration industry.

I'm working as the only refrigeration guy at a small frozen novelty company, pop cycles, italian ice cups, fudge bars, that kind of stuff.

Supporting, maintaining, and upgrading a wide variety of refrigeration equipment, most OLD and poorly maintained in the past. Yea, I've got my work cut out for me!

I'll be searching the archives a lot, will try not to ask too many dumb questions but as I find odd problems, hope I can query the boards and find some answers.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Win Kemper

    Hello,

    A warm welcome from Belgium.

Don’t hesitate to ask any question and share your knowledge and experience with us.
This forum is read worldwide and you may expect a professional answer.

If you post a question with the units you’re used to work with, place between brackets the other units. So if you normally work with SI units (bar, °C, m³/h..), place then between these units the proper IP units.

You can do the conversion with a free software program Uconeer
You can find it on http://www.katmarsoftware.com/uconeer.htm#download
Or you can use the spreadsheet of Dan posted on http://www.refrigeration-engineer.co...0617#post50617 post 6.

When you have a technical problem, try to post as many as possible readings you have made. You will see that we need many times condensing and evaporating pressure; discharge, suction, evaporator outlet and condenser outlet temperatures. Try to measure these very accurate.
The better you measure these, the better we can help you.

Note also band names, types of all the items installed in the installation.

I hope that you stay a long time with us and that you can contribute to expand this forum.

    Peter

Wow, what an exceptionally warm welcome!

Many thanks for the that welcome, and particularly for the conversion calculators, I think being able to communicate with common units will be a great benefit.

Peter, you mention "proper IP units" -- Not a term I'm familure with. What makes up that family of units?

    Again, many thanks.

Peter, uw Engels is veel beter dan mijn Nederlands, u dankt!

So, from the spreadsheet you pointed me to, IP units are Imperial units of measurement, SI are metric. Easy!

Since I have equipement using both standards, I already have to be carefull of which set of units I'm using, will remember to include both when I post my questions.
