    Compressor specs? Need help on data!

    Hey I have a Tecumseh Compressor bearing the numbers AJ201AT-426 I am trying to get the Amp draw or total wattage and such. It was an R-12 I am retrofitting it to R-134a.

    The two numbers it has: AJ7464-A & AJ201AT-426-J7

    Any help will be very much appreciated

    Can't seem to find any info on that specific model. It must be very old. Sorry.

    I am not sure whether it is same or not, but some numbers do match,
    AJA7465AXA-AJ201AT-188-J7 and that is a 115V/60Hz/1Ph-3/4Hp-R12-6650 Btu/Hr,
    Have a look at http;//www.tecumsehcoolproducts.com
    technical references,you may ask them may be they will help you,

    Ya I got the same info, problem is I need just the amperage or the wattage to calculate out some stuff.

    I'm thinking I'll have to do it the old way, messure the windings and then put good ol ohms law into overdrive! lol

    Thanks guys, guess I'll hunt down the ol calc and multimetter and ya she's an old gal but going strong.

    I am impressed. You can measure resistance and calculate the wattage? Sure would like to see that calculation.

    From your number aj7464-a

    no first letter (e.g. t 3ph/ c 1ph) = low starting torque
    aj = 3/8 - 1 1/2 hp
    7 = not listed in my book! ( but is used to rate for HBP, LBP, HST, LST, air con etc, etc)
    4 = zeros added to give total number of figures with next two numbers
    64 = 64 plus above = 6400 btu (four figures)
    a = R12

    nearest i've found in an old tech book is a 1.5hp caj2464az at 1068 watts 4.9a fla, 38.5a lra (240Volts) start winding 6.72 ohms run winding 1.7 ohms (240 volt motor)
    1/2 suction 5/16 discharge 22.5 kg
    body should be about 219mm deep x 165mm wide x 282mm high.

    If this don't look right give us some dimmentions pipe sizes etc.

    Cheers Jon

    1/2" Suction; 3/8ths" Discharge/Service; Single Phase; 115V; LRA 68.0; R-12; 700ml Oil (Type unknowen).

    Try using this Number: AJ201AT-426 with the catalog you have. Thanks! You may very well save the poor calc from a serious work out! lol

    Its rather simple, First we need to find the Amps: V/R=A
    So 115/x = Amps I need to get the resistance of the run winding to plug the veriable X. Then from there two ways to get Wattage: V*I=W or I^2*R

    So in the end its a chain: (115/x)=A^2*R= W

    The painfull part is dismantling the dam electrical box to messure the resistance <_<

    MG Pony, I'm not a xpert but Ithink there would be other factors to take into consideration in your calculation. Inductive reactance? efficiency of the comressor? Power factor?
    Please let me know

    you are correct but to get a good enough figure for over all system design it will yeild more then a sufficiant figure to get you within range. Naturaly it is a dynamic thing wattage, it spikes on start up and is all over the place during opperation.

    If there is an easy way why wants to go off the road as so many hurdles are there and at last you will not get the exact answer(due to efficiency, PF and other factors),AJA7465AXA-AJ201AT-188-J7 is an equalant of your compressor and if you see the product literature at Tecumseh site it states that it is a 3/4HP-1135WATTS-68LRA-11.6AMPS-115VOLTS-50/60HZ-1PH

    THANK YOU! I been trying to find that data but with no luck, thats why I was going to do a ruff guess from the winding resistance to figure out circuit load, but you came to the rescue with the manufacter data!! I was hoping some one could get it!

    Thanks a million! To every one for trying/did Help.
