    Oil Capacity

    Hi,
Does anybody know the compressor, oil capacity for a Sanden/Sankyo SD508?
    Regards,

According to Sanden, it depends on the expansion device type. 7.2 ± 0.5 oz for a unit with an expansion valve, 9.5 ± 0.5 oz if the system uses an orifice tube.

BUT: My personal experiance on a unit with an expansion valve, the 9.5 oz oil charge is a safer bet.

    Hi dkemper,
Thanks for the info. I'll go with the 9.5. Did you get the information from Sanden's, website?
    Regards,
    Terry

Yes, info came straight from Sanden's site.

My personal experiance, along with at least one other that I know of were on Sanden's installed on Jaguar XJ6's.

Both mine, and another suffered catastrophic failure following the use of the "expansion valve" oil charge.

Replace the compressor, used the higher quantity of oil and 3 years later, the system still works like a champ.
