Refrigerant Flow Rates
Can any one provide refrigerant flow rates for
R134a & R404A (SI units preferably)
i.e for refrigeration pipe sizing
Or general info for refrigeration Pipe Sizing
Thanks Ross V

Hi Ross,
Try this pdf download from DuPont, it's a 161 page handbook..

Re: Refrigerant Flow Rates
no worries brian!
i clicked onto the click thinking it must of been a folder on there site... did a quick search at the error page for refrig piping etc, then seen the '.' and thought i bet its a PDF! and bingo hehe"Old fridgies never die, they just run out of gas!"

Re: Refrigerant Flow Rates
You ask initially about refrigerant flow rate. This is a function of the duty and the refrigerant only, not the line size.
The relationship is
Qe = mr x dh
Qe = cooling duty, kW
mr = refrigerant mass flow, kg/s
dh = refrigerating effect, kJ/kg
dh can be read directly off a MollierChart at the suction temperature.
Now that you have the flow needed to achieve the duty, you can choose a line size that satisfies the max pressure drop and min velocity criteria.
The other methods offered are easy to use since they give nomograms for quick lookup.
