    Capillary selection software

This was several times a question: how to calculate capillary tubes.
Look once on the Danfoss site http://www.danfoss.com/Denmark/Busin...ils/DanCap.htm

English and IP and SI units

It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

    Re: Capillary selection software

    Hi All
I have water chiller system that im resiting, the water tank is now going to be outside of the enclosure so i need to extend my pipe run which involves lengthening the cap tube coming off the TEV and back into the suction line. The cap tube is connected to the TEV via a flared end and nut fitting, but im not sure if i need a specialist piece of pipe or how the cap tube enters the suction line. Also what determines the length of cap tube?

Please start your own thread if discussing a different subject.

The tube connected to your TEV is not an expansion line - simply extend it as required.

That does not sound like a cap tube, but an external equalizer tube.
If all else fails, ask for help.

Hey Brian, Iceman, sorry for the topic change, but thank you for your advice. So am i right in thinking there is nothing that determines the length of the equalizer tube?

    Re: Capillary selection software

There has to be some sort of mathematical equation to calculate this. If anyone knows of such, would you please point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

There is a mathematical formulae. What are you trying to calculate and for what system type. An A/C unit, a fridge, a freezer and how big is the system.

A little bit late but I think you have t read once the theory of an external equalized TEV and you will see that this is not a capillary tube.

Hehe, yeah, formula was the word I was after, not equation

Well, I don't have a specific system in mind, just on a general basis. But if that's not very helpful, then let's say it's a system capable of removing 250W at -40C.
