    Question moveing oil to sylinder

    hi evry body.
our compressors are carrier 06E type.

in one of our compressor which has been recently overhauled ,we could hear knocking sound in the valve plate (SYLINDER HEAD) during operation.

when we opened the top sylinder head ,there was a lot of oil on top of piston in the cylinder.
could you help me to find the reason.
NOTE: during the normal operation was not oil foaming in oil sight glass.

    Hi karimihassan
Can you give some more info about the system this compressor is on. Are there multiple compressors? What is the refrigerant? Is this the original compressor? If so why was it overhauled? Burnout, smash up, inefficient or old age?
Some reasons for oil on piston could be oil rings worn or oil slugging from evap.
Have you removed all heads and inspected valve plates for damage?

Most common reason is a faulty valve / valves or a damaged piston.

Push the piston down and see if you can rotate it.

    Cheers taz.

I met this problem once with acopland compressor the cause was the piston rings installed incorrectly the upside down and they were scrapping the oil up instead of scrapping it down.iI hope I could help you.
