refrigeration oil for NH3
we have to overhaul NH3 screw compressor , what is the type of refrigeration oil must be charged with?
it is HOWDEN compressor,I contact the manufactrer,but no responce from him! please help me

Hi afeef, We have 3 Howden WRV 225 on one site working as low side compressors on NH3 and a suction pressure of -.38 Bar. and a temp. of -40oC. and a delivery of 2.6 Bar and discharge temp. of 58oC.
In the past we used Mobil Gargoyle Arctic 300 oil, But had to change to Shell Clavus 68 oil as the company changed it's supplier to save money. Each oil was listed by Howden in the manual that we have.

Ultracool 68 from Ultramar is good also.
