    Energy consumed in storing potatoes



    Hi

    Can someone help me in understanding in finding out the energy savings in storing potatoes in cold storages in leno bags (Polypropylene) vs Jute Bags,

    Hi Piyush jain

    welcome to the forum, as far as i am aware the heat loadings are still the same the only difference being the storage bag.
    Potatoes are normally stored in Jute bags because they normally spoil quicker if expossed to light sources.
    Leno bags just make the product look better when retailing, normally only used for onions,carrots etc.

    Thanks for your interest in my subject.Actually in India potatoes are stored in coldstorages for 120 to 240 days maintaining a tep of 2 to 12*C. To maintain these temp normally electric energy is used.This is where i want to understand the consumtion or saving of energy.

    Basically you need energy eficient compressors and well balan ced systems
