    Question Branch Boxes

Was looking through the Dean & Wood catalogue and came across Mitsubishi's new M-series Multisplit units which use a branch box. I take it this is some form of distributor... Can any of your learned chaps enlighten me further? What is a branch box and why do we have them?
    Cheers!

    Re: Branch Boxes

    Hi DMac,

The new M-series from Mitsubishi is a hibrid AC system. I mean the outdoor unit is like a VRF outdoor unit, but the indoor unit are the normal residential unit (without expansion valve on board). To do operational this system we need to supply the expansion valve for each indoor unit. These expansion valve are inside the branch box. There are 2 type of branch boxes with 5 connection and with 3 connection. The range of connectable indoor units is 2-8.
Also each branch box has a PCB that communicate with outdoor unit and indoor unit, and the expansion valve are controlled to have an optimal operation of each indoor unit.
Each branch box has also a drain hoses to take into consideration.

    All the best,
    Nicola
