Two Stage Thermostat for Heat pump

One of those days .....spent most of the day trying to figure out how the 2 stage thermostat for a container ac unit should be wired.
According to the wiring diagram connect through the n/c on the heating switch of thermostat and N/o on the cooling side of stat.
Can anyone confirm this or pass on any intelligible info on 2 stage stats as the manufacturers was ****e.
    Cheers

A little more info on the thermostat make and model might help us answer your query.

Re: Two Stage Thermostat for Heat pump

Heat pumps have two methods of activating the reversing valve. An O terminal or B terminal. Most units are fail to heating. In your discription Normally closed in heating and activated in cooling. So this system is fail to heating and you would need to connect to the O terminal for proper operation. Most units are fail to heating except Rheem or Ruud units which are fail to cooling and require the connection to be on the B terminal. Hope this helps.
