Where to buy condenser guard/cage
Does anyone have a supplier that can provide a condenser guard/cage to protect a condenser measuring 935w x 1050h x 360mm deep.
Something demountable so the unit can be maintained, say about 1100x 1100x 600mm would be fine. It should have two sides, front and top, and would be fixed back to the wall.
Presumably, the metal frame with netting sides/top fitted with nuts and bolts is the only sensible way forward - timber would be a bit naff looking.
The best I can find is £220+vat+dely, but customer is a little uncomfortable with that. Before I offer him a cushion to rest against, I thought I would ask the question here.Last edited by Makeit go Right; 02-10-2006 at 04:05 PM.

Re: Where to buy condenser guard/cage
I assume that you have tried the usual sources... HRP, SWM, Climate Center et al?
You could get almost anything made up to your own requirement by someone in the Yellow Pages but surely a product designed for the job in hand is the best choice.
Is it not possible to position the condensing unit elsewhere in a safer place?Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK

Re: Where to buy condenser guard/cage
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
The condenser is existing so he is stuck with it where it is now.
Yes, tried all the usual ones but, with a bit more searching in the meantime, came up with £200 unit from Hotfrost, which may make the difference.
He does or he doesn't, of course - I would just like to avoid him going out to other installers who might later pinch the maintenance contract re their several branches.
fingers crossed.

Re: Where to buy condenser guard/cage
I have mine custom made by a local fabrication shop, the last one I had was to cage a 14KW LG (not supplied by me thank god) and it cost me £100 + VAT, I keep them simple and secure by 2 projection type rawl bolts for the top of the cage so it can be easily located and fitted by one person and 2 large coach screws for the lower fixings. If I am caging a floor mounted unit I have the top made at a sharp slope so kids can not stand on it.

It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
