    Domestic Ducted

Is there any sensible suggestions for domestic ducted systems. We keep being asked more and more this but there would appear to be very little choice on the market. Starting looking at the Unico system but seems very expensive and very unproven. has anyone fiited one yet or do you have any other ideas?
    Thanks

Johnson & Starley used to do a 6kW R22 unit for location in the loft. Long and thin, and the condenser part would be ducted to atmosphere. Not sure if they have yet replaced it with a 407c/410a unit.

Otherwise, just a regular ducted split in the loft, maybe.

Do you mean the 'cold-air side' ducted or both condensor and evaporator side?
It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Complete ducted systems throughout the premises supplying hot and cold air for effective climate control. Just room temperatures to control not water or radiators.

it's still not clear for me, all the duct is in the void but are you looking for a monobloc unit or a ductable indoor unit which serves all the rooms?

    Re: Domestic Ducted

Are all the rooms a similar size with similar heat gains?

If not, then a single indoor ducted unit serving all these rooms will have a control problem

    Re: Domestic Ducted

With one of those Johnson & Starley 6kW units, referred to above, I saw one installed with 4-outlets, ducted to three rooms. One large bedroom and 2 smaller ones. Obviously, the loads were different and, with different aspects, occurred at different times ofthe day.

Each duct had a motorised damper connected to a radio room stat. Seemed to wotk okay and the customer happy with it (3 years old).

    Re: Domestic Ducted

    Hi
The Johnson & Starley units were called CENTRE COOL. Done a couple a few years ago with an add on control pack with wireless stats. Worked ok The problem was that J&S did not have a replacement for the R22 model and they quickly put together what they had for the R22 deadline. They were then discontinued. The company that developed the wirless control and motorised dampers are still going and most ducted splits can be modified and controlled this way. If a client requests a ducted system we would normally provide a large split ducted with 3 to 4 outlets and either 1 main return air or seperate for each room. We would use polyaire circular plastic grilles suitable for 200mm dia insulated flexible ducting.Hope this helps.

    Hi Gents

we use UNTA and UNTB units from Rhoss.www.rhoss.com

Other Italian "chiller" manufacturers have similar. Aermec. Climiventa.
Argo also make split and concealed ceiling units.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind Regards Andy
If you can't fix it leave it that no one else will:rolleyes:
