    Evaporator freezing up

I guess their are probably a host of reasons why this happens but one suggestion on another forum states that the system running low on gas will cause the evaporator to freeze up .
I would be very gratefull if you learned gentlemen could confirm if this really the is the case .
    Kind regards.

Yes a shortage of refrigerant will lower the operating temperature and cause the evaporator to freeze up.

The operating temperature of the coil should be above 0°C at least with A/C.

if its an ac system and your frosting up the indoor head on cool mode you most likely lost refrigerant - also check liquid line coming back to condensing unit if this is frosted also is sign.

frosted up indor usualy means low on refrigerent, but, u should make shore 1rst that the fun is blowing, filters clean, and if the evaporator isn't dusty that could make the air flow gow down, and frust the indor unit

You can also get a freeing coil condition with reduced air flow. Better check this issue first.

You can also get a frosted / frozen evaporator when the expansion device is a capillary and the unit is operating in low ambients without head control

Check the fan. Reduced air can cause frosting on the coils.

Thank you. I also had eactly similar problem, and by increasing the air volume, the plant started maintaining the desired conditions and every thing was normal.
