Me thinks the efficiency of the compressor is reducing, hence noticeable in fridge compartment which is the last section of evaporator surface.

A Fridge technician requires to check pressures via some access port, if fitted.

Firstly defrost the unit for 24 hours, then if still have a fault after 8 hours of running time ........

If its an R12 unit, then time to replace it.
IF its an R134a unit, make sure the door seal is good, then if still faulty i would recover the old refrigerant and purge nitrogen free oxygen through the system, (checking for blockages), change the dryer and recharge the unit with R134a.
maybe change the compressor at the same time,
should cost around £150 (new comp)

    hope this helps
