Foster 2 Door Gastronorm
Ever tried changing evap motors on this cabinet.
Unlike the Williams, in which you simply remove two bolts lifting off top cover, the Foster evap section is boxed in. Access is from within the cabinet.
Fans are ring mounted , anyone have any tips how to change these..........Looks very daunting to me.
Please help.
Also, the small indicator light on the controller is lit , saying power to both evap fans. I can only assume one fan motor failed, was left in situ, unreplaced..........and second one gave way.
Even with both fans off, cabinet temp was still around 12C
Thx

Fans are not difficult to replace...........now to replace the evaporator complete with tails from inside the cabinet partucularly on the single door cabinet is a little bit tricky to say the least.

Re: Foster 2 Door Gastronorm
No door switches. Im just thinking. On the ring mount how will I unscrew the screws when there is hardly any space to get my screwdriver into the void?
I can use a screwdriver with a 90 degree bended shaft, but its going to be a pain.
Added to it, the cab is in a Chinese take away and is covered in that sticky grease

Hi Abe
I,m pretty sure there is some butterfly nuts tucked up inside, then the fan plate drops down.

Re: Foster 2 Door Gastronorm
Bernard is right, 2 x butterfly nuts to remove, and the plate holding the ring mounted fan then drops, you then have to remove or reroute the probes for the temp and termination depending on how they pass through the plate, the drain pipe also has to be removed, take care if an internal drain line line heater is fitted, I usually pull the heater back from the drain pan by the compressor.

Re: Foster 2 Door Gastronorm
Hi
I don,t have much of of a problem with any of these units,Its their location and the way they are stocked that causes the problems.Whenever possible I try to repair on first visit no matter how busy I am.Every compressor change comes with a new condensor fan motor, condensor wash and drier change. It does pay to do this.
William has a trim heater around the lid of the evap box which goes down to earth quite often, disconnecting this does not seem to cause much of a problem.
