    Re: Cold Storage Calculations

Before you start using software, do the calculations manually.

    The loads are:

    Wall transmission
    Door leakage
    Product pulldown
    Product freezing
    Product sub-cooling
    Product respiration
    Lights
    People
    Ventilation (if needed)
    Equipment
    Defrost heater
    Cooler fan motor

Each of the above are well documented in plenty references.

One thing to be aware of.
If you plan to freeze the product, make sure that it is possible! The load tells you how many kW but not the rate of cooling. That's a much more complicated calculation.

    Re: Cold Storage Calculations

I agree with nh3. One should get to the basics before using any software package. Principles of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning by RJ Dossat explains the procedure in detail.

A more comprehensive software can be downloaded free of cost from KeepRite webpage
