Evaporator Coil and Oil Heat

I am looking to install Carrier 58VMR Oil fired furnace. I would also like to attach a 1 1/2 ton AC unit to the furnace. I have noticed that many AC web sites say the coils they advertise are only to be used on Gas furnaces...I can understand this, due to higher heat output. Can anyone direct me to a site that specifies an evaporator coil that can be used with an Oil furnace...or perhaps direct me to directions for the gas evaporators that can be adapted to be used on an Oil furnace. Or possibly what I need to be looking for? Thank you in advance for your help...

Hi Jon and welcome to the Forum.

Any evaporator should be OK to attach to a heating unit - be it oil or gas fired. The evaporator coil must be placed before the burner section i.e. on the inlet side. NEVER put a refrigerant filled coil after a burner section unless the burner is low temp as in frost protection.

Thanks for the (excuse the pun) warm welcome... I am not completly understanding the part of before and after the burner...I thought the evaporator coil just sat on top of the furnace?...

Jon, the Carrier information that you have provided surely answer your own questions.

They do an oil fired unit with a cooling coil attached.

So you shouldn't have any problems, do however check with your supplier/installer that all is well before purchase.
