    Cellar trip

Went out to a cellar , condensing unit stopped.......
Had tripped on head pressure control.......
Was a standard NRS Cellar , running on R407C
    Tripped at 300psi

When I looked at the fins..........it had a thick coat of fur.......was absolutely disgusting.

Then I noticed all the dog food. Dogs had the run of the place. Dog hairs got sucked up into the coil.....I think they slept directly under the condensing unit

I washed it down. blew off.......got the coil cleared. Fortunately a water hose was right beside it.

Got some dog hairs into my mouth............Yurghhhhhhhh

    Ran unit up............down to a nice 250psi in a 30C ambient

300psi is to low for 407c hp switch.

Bearing in mind that day the outside ambient was hovering around the 35C mark, I thought it was a bit low as well.

I did not change the setting as didnt want to fiddle with what the installation engineer had set it up as.

As after the clean it hovered around 250/260 psi, I was content and left it at that.

What should the HP be set at Sling.........for my future reference

    Thx

    Re: Cellar trip

90% of blow off valve setting is a general rule of thumb for hp. an nrs cellar cooler will not have one obviously. i would say that r22 hp is around 350 psig in my experience and as such 407 should be a bit higher. i would get a comparator and look into it further with regards to temp/pressures, but ive had a long day. im sure one of the book worms here will have all the relevant correct ashrae info or some such thing but 350-375 psig suits me.

Back in the early 80's when all pubs had dogs, this was normal. now we live in this sterile dump.

    Re: Cellar trip

When I got to the pub, the landlord went upstairs and locked the dogs in one of the upstairs rooms.

Access to the condenser unit was on the first floor on a balcony.

Each time I went up the stair, or came down to pick up some kit, the dogs growled.

I kept having fears that "what if" the door inadvertently opened.......I would have a pack of rottweilers destroy this one long served , talented, humurous fridgy.......in one snarly snap of jaws.

    My blood pressure rocketed............Im sure

Boy or boy, was I glad to be out of that god forsaken place........

    Now..........if it were cats......................mmmmmm
