Air conditioning pump down.

Hi I have a Toshiba split system and it’s just been pressure tested and fully charged but as soon as it is turned on the system pumps over and pulls a vac. Both service ports are fully open and I can then crack the flare nuts and the pipes are completely clear and all the refrigerant is in the outdoor unit. Would this be a complete blockage in the condenser coil?

You say service ports, do you mean the actual valve is open or just that the access port is available?

It is unlikely that both valves have stuck shut so please try closing them and reopening to double check them.

I mean the actual Allan key valves are both open and were untouched. After pressure testing, pulling a vac and then charging with 1.7kg the system has pumped over almost as if the liquid line valve is closed but it definitely isn’t.

Why are you 'cracking' the flare nuts when the system has been pressure tested. Doing this while the system is pumping down risks admitting air into the circuit.

If the liquid line doesn't show pressure when you 'crack' the flare nut then the service valve is probably closed or the expansion valve (eev) is faulty.

What are the model numbers

Is dip switches set for pump down and when u nitrogen system did u flow check it

You could also put gauges on to see what is happening suction & discharge.
If system starts, suction pressure high, pumps down, suction pressure slowly increase, sounds like blockage, restriction etc.
Is system new, or old, thought they came pre-charged?

Hi all, I ran into this problem, can fix it. When I had my old air conditioner, I had the same thing. It was just dripping, and that was it, all the time due to the pump malfunction. I was horrified by it and thought that was it, and the AC was broken. So I called a mechanic to take a look at the air conditioner. They reassured me very quickly and told me that it was condensation, that I had nothing to worry about, it wasn't hurting the AC and wasn't ruining it in any way. It would just be less potent because of the pump. So I calmed down, but over time that little puddle and the fact that it was constantly dripping started to piss me off. At one point I could not stand it and just bought a new air conditioner, which has no such problems and never will, as told me, it is a great new generation air conditioner.
