Industrial screw compressor thrust bearing checks

Each brand of screw compressor has different recommendations on thrust bearing checks.
Do you follow recommendations by OEM, or do your own thing.

I am convinced that the compressor manufacturer has the greatest overview of what kind of repair needs to be done and after how many operating hours. I personally follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

I dont understand why the different production factory have different example,

SAB 163 0,05 mm.

0n frick 233 its 0.2.0max

and on Sab 202 ,0,15

Sorry I must say that HOWDEN 255 try to teach 0,05 mm.
What I think is too small.

Concernig overhaul time everybody should have instrument for noise and heating bearings.

I dont have it is cost a lot off money.

So would you check thrust bearings every year like manufacture recommends Howden & GEA.
Only ones suggesting it in industrial.
GEA wants face gap check every 5000 hrs.

Ok my mistake , but if HOWDEN 204 try to reach 0.05mm. It is also big difference concerning other compressors.
If others have same diameter on rotors.

I dont think the end clearance is too critical if over-size by a few hundredths of a mm. If it's too smal i could be a problem because of rotors interfering with suction cover.

I think AKI refers to example Howden WRV205 standard discharge end clearance 0.05 to 0.075mm
Frick 193 0.16 to 0.24mm.
big difference but works apparently.

Thanks, I presume similar for ammonia operation, very open recommendation, but as they say depends on system, use vibration analysis.
Had a semi hermetic run 120,000 hours, nothing wrong, decommissioned, so who knows how long it could have run for. It was regularly checked wih VA.

Returning of liquid from system

Sound and vibration analysis shows every thing

Hi, RANGER1 ... genarally following recommendations by OEM ....
and some companies have request to check thrust bearing yearly ...
for safety ... no unexpected downtime and compressor overhauling over night ...
