    need help A/C

    hi

    i have an old R22 A/c,

i have a charging connnection after the expansion valve and b4 the evap. I also have a sight glass after the condenser.

The problem is that is does not seem to be getting too cold. I have a thermocuple on the outside of the tube, it starts around 23C and drops to 17C

Also, after some time, the compressor shuts off b/c some swtich kicks in. Load is too much ( I think)

    Plz help me

This is what i do, i vaccum it. Then add charge using the vapor port. I then run it and add more charge.

    IS there anyhting wrong

You sound like a newbe to the game. Could I ask where you got the refrigerant gas? How do you know how to charge?

A vacuum pump is a specialised piece of kit. if you have one and know how to draw a vacuum why are you asking these basic questions?

i feel that you have a basic knowledge but don't know what you are doing. Why add gas and then add gas again?

    Re: need help A/C

This is a cheap A/C system that i am fooling with

i am working on something in college. I know a bit but trying to troubleshoot this damn system

I do not use those charging manifolds, i could but it will only be on the low side. Dont have a connection for the high system

We are just fooling around with this cheap system. Get some feel and experience.

I added more charge b/c it wasnt getting cold after the expansion device. I use a valve (expanison device) and closed it nearly to the end and it wasnt that cold

I added a thermcouple to the outside wall of copper tube to get a sense of the temps. It fell from 23 C to 17C

    Any help plz

    thanks

    http://www.refrigerationbasics.com/1024x768/rb1.htm < Go here.

Please do not take offense but often starting at the basics is a good way to start, when ever I have dead time I read through there, basicly if you are going to be playing with this stuff you aut to know that site inside and out.

Now what is the pressur in the evap?, what type of valve, and such, what Vac did you pull, did you use the right oil if you been modifying the system?

Please detail your project from the very start (IE: Start from when you put the A/C on the bench for the first time)

FYI "B4" that is either a part number or you meant "be for" when asking for help you must use proper language other wise it will make things very difficult.

Did you find any leackage of gas on the system and did you arrest the same.

just by charging or recharging the system may not be the solution. Low coling is caused by many reasons.
please specify full datails and symptoms of the unit.

I suppose you are taking the things very simple.
