Slim Cassette unit for domestic kitchen

Hello everyone, long time no speak, hope you are all well?

This year we have decided to put a bit of money into the house and fit a new kitchen that works better for storage etc, this will involved replacing the wall mount a/c units in all 4 rooms as fan motors are becoming noisy and they look bulky too. Ideally if we could get rid of the trunking would be bonus.

Attached are some current pictures (in this post) for reference and CAD drawings of proposed kitchen (in 2nd post below)

On the plans we are moving the oven/hob/extractor to the wall where the wall mount currently is. The kitchen company have said the trunking isn't an issue as the wall cupboards will fit just below this however the wall mount will look out of place and likely when in heating air will hit off the bottom of the cupboards, it will also not be centre with where the oven is going to be on that wall. We are going to be getting rid of the radiator as there is no space for it and potentially installing Myson kickspace heaters (hydronic) but these are costly to buy and noisy as well so need to sort the a/c out.

The new plans show that there is not going to be anywhere for a wall mount to go without the outside wall having pipework running across the back of the house. Currently outdoor unit is just below the larger kitchen window at floor level. The trunking you see links to an adjoining room (lounge) and houses pipework for the unit. Upstairs is the same layout (2 up 2 down layout). Units are currently installed on the joining neighbour party wall.

LG say there new 2019 R32 model line up is compatible with the R410a outdoor units for retrofitting, our outdoor unit is less than 2 years old so we know this won't be an issue.

They no longer a do a convertible unit which I think look really ugly anyway and are huge. The wall where the tv is is the gable end of the house (end terrace) and has a main road outside so wouldn't want to put a unit on this wall as would be a pipe run across the back and down the side of the house with pipework.

We are thinking a mini cassette unit would be an option in the middle between the two ceiling lights. LG do a 21cm in height slim line model. The issue is how we would run pipework to it neatly and there is also no ceiling void. Ceiling height is 2.8m. We would want to put some sort of boxing in on the unit so it looks neat.

Have any of you done anything like this before, any pictures of how it might look? If anyone is up Leeds way and fancies quoting for this job I would be grateful.

    Thank you
    Richard.

Hi Richard, looks like you're going to be having fun again, enjoy the project.

Only a couple of thoughts, I haven't fully digested your plans yet...

1, use an integrated dishwasher to improve the cupboard line.

2, have you looked at what LG call their 'concealed duct' model and would it perhaps fit above, or within, the fridge/freezer cabinet ? The pipework could be run behind the new units at low level and then rise behind the fridge.

    Hi Brian,

Yes always something to be doing around here!

The kitchen people said the same about the appliances but I have said we are keeping the freestanding ones which were all new last year, (Miele) so they cost 1000s lol.

We are thinking now possible an idea like you said or dropping the ceiling a little where the unit is currently and running a low static pressure ducted unit in that area. Should look neat.
