Flare torque wrench
Hi all, During the last 18 months I have had to change my Rothenberger torque wrench twice. It loses its calibration and goes 'soft', clicking too early. Any recommended brands? Willing to pay for quality.

Re: Flare torque wrench
Hi Gozoboy.
I don't know whether its relevant?
Only whenever I have finished using my torque wrench. I always release the spring tension by winding it back off to 0.
Is that something you might do?

Re: Flare torque wrench
Hi Grizzly, no I never released the spring tension. Will try that. What brand do you use, if I may ask?

Re: Flare torque wrench
My torque wrenches are issued from a central stores whenever necessary so are various makes.
Rothenburger are a good make.
So in fairness leaving the spring tensioned may well be the cause of your problem.
Good luck and I salute your honesty for admitting not knowing about releasing the spring pressure after use!
Were all here to learn.

Re: Flare torque wrench
I just realised does the Rothenburger have the facility to release the tension?
Or is it pre-set?
If its pre-set then it may not be something you are doing wrong?

Re: Flare torque wrench
To release the spring I have to wind it out.
