Help with a domestic fridge freezer

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone can point me in the right way of finding an issue with a domestic fridge freezer in the UK.
I believe the system has 1 compressor, apparently the freezer side works fine and they have no issues but the fridge side doesn't get cold at all, they cleared some ice from the fan inside but it's not getting cold.
I have only ever worked on commercial and supermarket and domestic is all new to me.

    Any help would be great

    .

Make sure the thing is fully defrosted and by that I mean
stood with door open for at least 2 days in warm kitchen.

Then it will be something to do with the control for the fridge.
Depending on type, the fridge might have air diverted into
the fridge section by a fan or a paddle shaped louver.

The controller or the motor to this needs proving.
If it is a more traditional fridge - freezer then the evap
in the fridge section always is last after the freezer section
so the issue again would tend to be with the controls.

Without looking at it though it is just guess work.

Check also that the drain pipe is clear. if it is blocked with dirt, water stay in the freezer, freeze and block the air vent to the fridge side.

You can clear all the ice very quick by using a fan.

Thank you both for your help and information. They had turned the unit off when they cleared the ice from the fan and it must of defrosted fully, they called me last night to say they had turned it back on and it was running fine but will let me know if it happens again, the unit in question is a hotpoint quadrio which from looking on Google looks as though the fridge is the top and the freezer is underneath.

    Thanks again for your help

    .

Auto defrost contrary to popular opinion Do freeze up.

Just not all the time. If it does it again in the next month there is an
issue that needs looking into but if it doesn't leave alone and put
it down to one of life little mysteries.

Late to this thread. Freezer can seem fine until frozen goods thaw. One Compressor could mean 2 Evaporators if this is a "Side by Side" domestic.

2 Door with the Freezer on top and warm produce below, or the popular reversal likely means a failure of it's defrost cycle Heater element, Defrost termination thermostat or defrost timer.
