    Discharge valve

    Dear Friends,

In a semi-hermetic or hermetic compressor without opening compressor how we can find if discharge valve do not have good seal ?
One of my friends says, If discharge valve has not good seal at a short time after compressor off discharge and suction pressure would be very near and it could be one of reason that discharge valve has not good seal. Do you agree with this ?

    Sincerely yours.

Pump the suction down to see what vacuum you can achieve, switch it off if the pressure flys back up its leaking give us some clues what gas what ambient and what delivery and suction pressure and evaporating temperature.

You can also simply close discharge stop valve immediately after stopping compressor & observe pressure if drops or not.
Should take a few minutes to drop, not seconds.
Internal relief valves could also be suspect.
    See page 229 of download.
There is also a troubleshooting section in it.
Sabroe probably have best manual to describe all aspects of operation.
