Switching an ac fan
Hi
I want to wire a single phase squirrel cage fan with a run capacitor to a timing clock
I want to switch the live but the run cap uses the neutral wire for its power will it still be ok to leave these in series when the fan is off.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Switching an ac fan
Any chance you could post a wiring sketch of what you want to do?

Re: Switching an ac fan
I dont see a problem with what you are trying to do. You are supplying power to the motor on the common winding. Is there something you are worried about in particular?

Re: Switching an ac fan
The other way to wire it is power goes in to the cap and run winding. Common then goes to neutral.

Sketch looks good. No problem doing it that way, just make sure you put discrimination (fuse etc) on the live feed
