    Chest freezer convert to a fridge



    Had a friend ask me the other day asking me if I could convert his chest freezer to a fridge I said no,the compressor and thermostat in my opinion would need to be changed which would make it a none viable option any thoughts

    Some small compressors are suitable for low, medium and high evaporating temp, have it checked before you replacing it.
    Cap tube will need to be changed as capacity will be higher at medium evaporating temp.

    Many people do this.
    I can think of reasons it might not be a good idea, but it seem to work.

    Only problem I've found is the frost line inside turns to water inside with no where to go yes comp different but let's face it a chest lasts forever swap it for a Danfoss number 8 which I think is a bottle cooler stat
