    Fixed leak detection

    Hello all,
    My first post here.
Thank you for sharing information and reading my question.
To comply with the requirements of EN378 and the F GAS regulation sensors must be tested annually.
Who suppose to do annual calibration of the Fixed leak detection system sniffers?
We do have a FLD installed, since the systems are quite big > 1000 KG of R 134a.

Not knowing what the legislation is like in Bulgaria but...

Annual testing does not normally mean that the sensor(s) needs to be calibrated. Rather that it is logged that someone either used the test button or a "sample leak" and that the leak detection system operated as designed.

I believe the regulations in all EU are the same.
Our regulations stated "Fixed leak detection systems must be checked or calibrated as appropriate at least once every 12 months to ensure proper functioning for stationary refrigeration equipment."
Is this mean that any certified person can do the 'checks'?

    Someone please reply.
Do I have to search for a list of approved vendors to make an annual check, or I can do it by myself?
What is the practice in the place you are?

    .

With most sensors they come with a small bottle that has a waxy
substance inside it. When this bottle is held near the sensor it
emits something that triggers the alarm, if the alarm is ok.

The stuff inside the bottle is specific to a make or a type of refrigerant
and they emit at levels lower than 5ppm or 5 grammes a year.

the sensor manufacturer should be able to supply these.

You can do it yourself if you use a calibrated tester to below 5 grammes a year.

The test would need to be recorded onto the correct documentation.

Get a calibrated leak generator such as this http://bit.ly/2uQ541R. Ignore the price in this link.
