    nitrogen as refrigerant

Did someone try to build a system with N2 as refrigerant? Does someone has a pressure/temperature chart in such a case? Thanks!

I guess you can in certain conditions, look for R-728 [N2]

Since the temperature of the critical point of nitrogen is at -147ºC, for refrigeration at the usual temperatures you would have a gas only cycle. You'd better look for open air cycles as used in the airplane air conditioning systems.
With gas only cycles usualy the performance is pretty bad so you can find much better refrigerants than N2.
For the P-T charts you can search the internet but I dont believe you will find it very usefull for refrigeration.

    Hi, Attilapethe

welcome to RE forums ... you can tell us something about yourself here .... if you like ...

probably someone tried ... but without phase change it will be hard - if not, almost, impossible to use it as refrigerant ... http://science.jrank.org/pages/2922/...-pressure.html

here you can download ... CoolPack and some other software ... it is free ... http://www.en.ipu.dk/Indhold/refrige...downloads.aspx

and you can check all by yourself ... there within CoolPack are many other refrigerants and you can compare up to three refrigerant in a simple refrigeration cycle ...
